Danny Phillips

is considered one of New Zealand’s top magic entertainers.

WHEN SHOULD YOU HIRE A MAGICIAN?
when hire a magician

When you want to entertain your guests and have a unique event, or where you want to enhance your special occasion. A good magician will have your guests buzzing afterwards. They will want to swap notes with other guests about what just blew them away.   Will you be able to say that about a band, singer or musician?

Other times to hire a magician are when there is downtime at an event. For example strolling magic while cocktails are being served at a corporate function or at a wedding during the photo shoot or at an event while waiting for dinner to be served

Those special occasions you should hire a magician include:

Special birthdays, weddings, engagements, significant wedding anniversaries, corporate functions, trade shows, awards evenings, banquets, grand openings etc.
Birthdays may include 21sts, 30ths, 50ths,70ths (sorry, Danny doesn’t do children’s magic parties),
Special anniversaries may include as 25th Wedding anniversaries or 50th anniversaries.
Magic can be performed for your party at your home or your nominated venue.

WEDDINGS

LASTING MEMORIES

Having a professional entertainer at a wedding creates a unique atmosphere. Leave your guests with lasting memories

There are many times during the course of a wedding for guests to be entertained by a magician. Frequently it is during the photo shoot when cocktails are being served, but just as often for while guests are waiting for dinner to be served or in between courses. Another option is as entertainment after dinner.

CORPORATE MAGIC

BREAKING THE ICE

Corporates use magicians for Christmas end of year functions, for special receptions, conferences and training seminars. The most common form of magic for corporates is strolling magic. This is performed by a roving magician to small groups of guests, traditionally this is done during the cocktail hour. However close up magic is also popular to fill the downtime while guests are waiting for their table to be served. This is often referred to as table magic. A stand-up comedy act after dinner always proves popular.

How did he know that!
PRIVATE PARTIES

FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Private parties may be in a private home but just as likely at a restaurant or a bar. Magic is becoming very trendy for significant birthdays. This could be for 21st 30th 40th 50th or even 80th birthdays. (Sorry, Danny doesn’t do children’s parties) Wedding anniversaries and engagements are a popular times for booking a magician and giving guests entertainment with a laugh.  Private parties may be small as 18 but also into the hundreds.

"We flew Danny down to Wellington from Auckland for our wedding day. Inviting Danny to perform was one of the very best decisions we could have possibly made. If he doesn't have iconic status as a New Zealand entertainer, then he is one of the great unsung heroes! We can't thank you enough - you made our wedding day extra special and memorable!"

Ellen & Stan Litras

“I kept his visit a surprise, so he just turned up and start doing his magic. The staff reacted with a bit of light hearted confusion, soon followed by complete awe on the close up magic being performed right in front of them! It provided lots of laughter. Danny is very skilled at what he does."

"We were thoroughly entertained by Danny's humour as well as his magic. Long after the event, our members are still wondering how he achieved what he did. I highly recommend a magical show by Danny as a highlight for any function."

Close up is performed with the audience close to the magician, usually in physical contact. It usually makes use of everyday items as props. Danny uses cards, ropes, coins, banknotes, etc. Sometimes called Table Magic because magic is typically done on the table at a wedding or restaurant.

But there is nothing in his hands?

Comedy Magic can be used in almost any situation. Comedy Magic is defined as where a magician uses jokes or funny movement to amuse his audience. It may be a 15 minute spot on stage for a corporate. Strolling Magic but also known as roving magic or walkabout magic. This is a close up style of magic presented while the magician is walking around and performing to groups of guests. It allows you entertain a large group of people without a stage. It’s perfect for cocktail parties, banquets corporate functions and more.

STAGE MAGIC

FOR THE LARGER EVENTS

Stage magic is typically performed on a platform or stage while the audience is seated. Frequently using large illusions. Typically magic shows last around thirty to forty minutes. Large theatres may have shows of 90 minutes. This is typical of what you would see in Las Vegas. Magicians will vary performance times to meet your needs.

" Just when you thought you had worked out how the trick worked Danny would completely confound us with his amazing magic ! Everyone- including the men ! were spell bound…how did that card end up in his shoe? My staff continue to discuss the magic-it certainly bought a sense of occasion to our annual end of year xmas party 2011. Thank you Danny-you were an amazing act and exceptionally well organised and professional for a magician !! "
